This Simple Mindset Is Holding You Back.

3 min

You know, I get asked this a lot....

How do you know what works?

It usually comes from people who want to skip the guesswork, to only do the things that work. And I get it. We all want results. Nobody wants to waste time or money on something that flops.

But here’s the uncomfortable truth: nobody actually knows what works yet.

Not the so-called experts, not the people on LinkedIn shouting about their “proven systems”, not even the marketing veterans with 20-plus years of experience.

Because “what works” is always moving. Audiences shift. Algorithms change. Markets evolve. What crushed it six months ago might completely flop tomorrow.

There’s no magic recipe. You won’t find it in a book or even a podcast, for that matter.

You learn what works by doing the work.

You test. You tweak. You learn.

It’s that simple...

Try things that might not work.

This is where most people freeze. They want guarantees... proof that something will work before they even try it. But that’s not how this game works.

The truth is, progress hides behind uncertainty. You don’t find what works by following a formula, you find it by playing around.

Run tiny experiments. Break things on purpose. Try the headline that feels a bit too bold. Post the idea you’re slightly scared of. See what lands, see what bombs. And learn from both!

Be patient. Seriously.

Some ideas are slow burners. They need oxygen and time. But most people throw in the towel before they ever see results, usually right when things are about to click.

There’s no one-size-fits-all in marketing. What works for Nike won’t necessarily work for a local bakery. What worked for me last year might not land this year. The only constant? The cycle of testing, learning, and refining.

The shortcuts nobody talks about

Now, I’ll be brutally honest... There are no silver bullets. But there are shortcuts. Smart ones!

They come from experience, pattern recognition, and a little bit of strategic intuition, the kind you only get after falling flat on your face a few times.

If you want to know what that looks like... the kind of shortcuts that actually work, click this link and book a call. I’ll show you how I help clients find their version of “what works” faster.

Don’t wait for perfect information. There’s no such thing. Start testing, start learning, and if you want a hand.

Let’s talk.
